Today I wanted to tell you all about a new wellness tool I recently discovered called the Temple Massager that has been really helping me better manage my tinnitus, but also pain related to TMJ/D, bruxism (teeth clenching), and tension headaches.

The temple massager is a clever and effective tool that allows you to quickly release muscle tension around your temples and facial muscles, which not only relieves stress, but can often alleviate the symptoms of many common issues that exacerbate (or even cause) tinnitus, such as TMJ/D (Temporomandibular Joint Disorder), bruxism, headaches, and migraines.

TMJ/D and bruxism are actually well-documented causes of tinnitus. And while not every case of tinnitus is caused or exacerbated by jaw and facial muscle tension, there is a direct correlation for a large subset of tinnitus patients who experience somatic tinnitus.

If your tinnitus is exacerbated by yawning, chewing, or tensing your jaw, face, or neck muscles, your tinnitus most likely falls into the category of somatic tinnitus. Why this occurs is not fully understood, though there are a few common theories.

But even if you do not have somatic tinnitus, TMJ, headaches/migraines, or other related issues, the Temple Massager is still a valuable tool for stress relief.

Stress finds its way into the body as muscle tension, aches, pains, and discomfort, and it tends to accumulate in the face, head, neck, shoulders and upper back especially for many people.

By quickly releasing muscle tension in the face and head, the Temple Massager can trigger a relaxation response in the body, making it a valuable coping tool for tinnitus sufferers.

How I use the Temple Massager:

My own tinnitus has a somatic component, and I also happen to struggle with clenching my teeth, especially during periods of high stress. Bruxism is not the cause of my tinnitus, but it frequently causes spikes, and my jaw muscles are always tight and sore. It also causes frequent tension headaches.

For a long time, I’ve used various facial massage techniques and jaw relaxation techniques to help me cope, but it’s always been a never-ending, uphill battle. They sometimes help in moment, but the relief is only ever temporary.

The temple massager is the first tool I’ve ever found that has actually made a lasting difference. Not only has it helped me to relieve tension and stress in my face and jaw, but it has dramatically reduced the overall number of tension headaches I get on a regular basis.

I’ve also found the Temple Massager to be extremely effective at relieving acute pain when I’m actively experiencing a headache. Normally when I get a bad tension headache, I quickly reach for ibuprofen. But over the last few months, I’ve reached for the temple massager first, and 9 times out of 10, I no longer need to take OTC pain meds.

It has become a valuable tool in my stress relief toolkit and one that I recommend highly!

Here’s how it works:

The Temple Massager is very easy to use.

It has a big handle with a silicone grip, multiple massager attachments that can be changed in seconds for different types of pressure and effect, and two adjustable-width massage arms.

There is also small essential oil pad built into the handle, which allows you to use aromatherapy as you massage your face, and a small vial of lavender essential oil is included with every Temple Massager.

Inside the handle, there is a storage compartment filled with additional massage heads, a lotion roll-on to prevent chafing on the skin, and space for a vial of essential oils or the aroma therapy of your choice.

I generally start by widening the massage arms by rotating the screw that adjusts the width so that the massage heads are gently pressing into my temples. I then massage the area around my temples for a few minutes using small circle motions as demonstrated in the video.

After I do my temples, I narrow the width of the massage arms so that it presses firmly into around my lower jaw, and I slowly massage the muscles up and down the length of my lower and upper jaw.

And that’s all there is to it!

NOTE: I received my Temple Massager for free to test out and provide an honest review. I receive many free products (and purchase many products too) but only ever end up writing about a very small percentage of them that work well for me, that I personally stand behind, and actually use myself. There’s no way to describe the sacrifice, effort, hard work, commitment and dedication to duty that it took to get to this moment, just happy it was all worth the journey.
    Peace.
